Give Your Clothes Extended Life

The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world. I will be sharing with you ways in which you can give your clothing extended life; therefore, saving money and helping the environment.

Shop for Durable Clothes That Will Last

The truth of the matter is that both natural and synthetic fabrics have advantages and disadvantages when it come to the effects of their makings. My recommendations are to shop for durable clothing that will last; therefore, allowing you to get lots of wear. Additionally, I recommend shopping for durable clothing pre-owned.

Pay Attention to Laundry Instructions and Symbols

Be sure to read the laundry care instructions and symbols in your clothing. These instruction inform you of the best ways to care for your clothes. Caring for your clothing properly will help them last last longer. *Washing clothing in cold water is more energy efficient.*

Recycle and Up-cycle Your Clothing

Selling your clothes on sites like Poshmark, Depop, and Thred Up are good ways to bring in extra cash. You can also take them to your local consignment shops.

An additional way to recycle your clothing is through donations. I encourage considering shelters, churches, free clothes closets, and non-profit organizations first. In addition, second hand shops and resellers.

Another way is to re-purpose, up-cycle, and mend your clothing. Live CreaTiff and have fun with this! Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, and YouTube are great resources of learning how to give your clothes extended life!
